    Comments:

Bought this bike 3 months ago as commuter bike and weekend road rider, and have over 600 miles on it already. My commutes are much easier on this bike because of the suspension, front shock and iso-zone rear. Attached a trunk rack and pannier and can get to work (17 miles each way) with no issues. On 45 mile road ride last weekend, everyone was surprised I was keeping up with road specific bikes while on my "mountain bike". This bike handles light duty off road and all dirt/gravel trails easily. It looks big and heavy, but lock out the front suspension and it MOVES. The large 48 tooth front means I'm geared very close to the road bikes and have no problem staying with the speedsters. The upright seating provide comfort on the road and stability off it. Yes, the pedals are simple, but everyone I know changes pedals to what they like and there is such a huge variety in tastes, so the OEM pedals can't and won't make many people happy. Do the break in and fix the small stuff that slips, stretches or becomes bothersome. I had to adjust grips a few times, but they work well enough I haven't put bar ends from previous bikes on. Allowed cables to stretch and had it tuned up again. Did some in ride adjustment to rear derailleur and it clicks into gear easily. Two spills, one minor, one major. I took all the damage and only minimal scratches to handlebar ends and side of seat. The DS 8.5 is sturdy and has held up well to the beating I've given it. I would recommend this bike for anyone that wants to have ONE bike for most occasions. It's not a downhiller and it's not a road racer. But for the price, I have a bike that will take me everywhere I want to go.

This is my third season riding this bike, and I still love it. I've used it as my daily commuter, and for that it's a great bike. I even rode it in a triathlon, as a novice, and it did wonderfully. I would buy this bike again. The only (slight) negative, are the pedals. You are going to want to switch them out.

I love the looks and feel of the bike. The shifter on the handle bars from suspension to stiff is one of the best features. I have had the gears tuned up but still having shifting problems.

      Comments:

Bought the bike 3 weeks ago. Nice bike but had issues. First the grips on the handle bars got a bit loose and had issues with the derailer. The gears were not catching, or were shifting by itself and making clanky noises on the lower gears. After they fixed it, it seems to still have trouble catching the correct gear. With that said it looks nice and the ride is pretty smooth. Although it may just need a small tweak, I expected a trouble free bike for the amount of money spent on it.

          Comments:

Where do I start with this bike......great bike all around! I have rode paved paths, some mtn trails and the handling of this bike is superb! The ero gribs are excellent for comfort and gives more support to the lower part of your hands and the lockout switch mounted on the handlebars for the front suspension is genious, especially for a hybrid when changing from mtn trails, to paved surfaces! The only thing that I would say needs some "attention" would be the new "Isozone" feature they have for the 8.5......I love the concept and idea, but I have had some noise coming from that area and had to make minor adjustments to get rid of the noise, but no big deal! In closing.....the matte black/white with blue accents one that I purchased, will turn some heads....just saying!
