Club FAQ's

How do I join?

Join Team Bicycle Sport Shop through our website on the 2020 Club Signup Page. If you have any questions about signing up, the club captains or an employee at the shop can help you. You can also email [email protected] with questions.

How long is my membership valid?

Membership is for one calendar year from January 1st to December 31st of the same year. If you join in October, your membership lasts for 3 months. Registration for the following club year typically opens around December 1.

How much does club membership cost?

The annual dues are $50 per person.

How much does a club membership cost if I join midway through the year?

The $50 membership dues are unfortunately not pro-rated so the cost is the same.

How do I purchase my discounted merchandise?

Club members get 20% off Bicycle Sport Shop branded clothing and 50% off Team Bicycle Sport Shop Road and MTB jerseys and bib shorts. The discount will be reflected in your customer account in up to five weekdays after registering for the Team online and you will receive an email verifying that the discount has been set up. You can then purchase Team gear in the store by giving the salesperson your name or phone number to look up your account.

Where is the TeamBSS gear located?

Team jerseys and bib shorts will be at the Lamar, Parmer, and Research locations. You can see if an item is in stock at a location by looking up the item you want to purchase online or by calling the store. A salesperson can also arrange to have an item transferred for you if your size is not in stock at a particular location. 

What other discounts do I get as a TeamBSS member?

Club members will receive promotional items and deals from other club sponsors and shop vendors when available. You'll also gain access to our exclusive club shopping day every quarter. Plus, there is an opportunity to earn further store discounts by participating in our Legacy Program.

Do I have to race?

Of course not! But if you choose to race, you should register with USAC or USAT as a member of the Bicycle Sport Shop Cycling Club so you can represent your club!

Do I need to get a license?

No, most races offer the opportunity to race on a one-day license. But if you plan on racing a number of events it is more cost-effective to purchase an annual license. Moreover, holding an annual license will make you eligible for things like Texas Cup series points and awards in certain disciplines depending on your race finishes.

Where can I purchase my race license?

Beginning January 1, if you are a road, mountain or cyclocross rider go to: http://www.usacycling.org/. If you are triathlete go to: http://www.usatriathlon.org/.

Is there a race team apart from the club?

While the club is not officially a race team, there are a number of club members that frequently race criteriums, road races, cyclocross races, MTB races, gravel grinders, and triathlons of every distance. For those riders that get an annual license through USAC, there is an opportunity to not only designate your club as the Bicycle Sport Shop. You can ask any of our club captains about the licensing process.

Do you offer race reimbursement?

Yes. The Race Reimbursement Program (RRP) aims to reimburse a portion of race entry fees.

I just purchased my first bike, can I join the club?

Yes, of course! The Bicycle Sport Shop Cycling Club is open to everyone with a bike.

Is there a minimum age for participation in the clubs?

No, but if a club member is under 18, we require parental/guardian participation at club rides and events.
